MEDITATION DOES WORK

I have tried all types of meditation, transcendental meditation, mantra meditation, guided meditations, silent meditations, and many more. I know for me, I haven’t found one in particular that works, but have found all of them useful. I start by seeing how I feel and check in with what I need, how long I need it, and the frequency I will use it. I set a schedule to meditate in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Meditation is personal. It is important to make time for it because it gives your brain, thought patterns, and yourself a break.

Whether I lay down and meditate, or sit up like Buddha, to me it’s all about taking the time for me. There is NO inner guilt around my meditations, they are strictly there to serve me. If I find I’m cranky and unhappy, and not meditating regularly, I jump back on the train.

Take this time for you. CHOOSE YOURSELF and feel the quiet, chaos, or somewhere in between.

Meditation, and giving room for your thoughts and body to be still, will boost your immune system. You will get your mind and body in alignment, and every automatic process your body does will run better.

BREATHWORK

I have been fascinated with breath ever since I was pregnant, and it seemed the main way to survive giving birth was through breathing. Breathing is obviously something that we do automatically, but with conscious breath, we can change so many things, from the pain we feel to our immune response.

Years ago I learned about Wim Hof, his breathing technique, and cold therapy for the immune and nervous system. I believe there is more than one way to breathe and connect with the mind of the body, but I have found no better one than Wim Hof’s method. He also has the science to back up his claims. He does an incredible job explaining his technique and has the science to back it up. Watch, listen or read about him below and then download the app.

MOVE YOUR BODY- TEND THAT TEMPLE

Exercise for immunity. Exercise improves your overall health and helps boost your immune system. Some studies show that “moderate to intense” exercise may cut down the number of colds you get. Do something you love. Go for a walk, go to yoga, pilates, a run, or anything you like, just start moving.

My good friend Jen Esquer, aka Docjenfit, is a master at teaching you functional movement. She is a physical therapist and offers these programs.

MANAGE YOUR STRESS

No matter what you do, if you are not managing the stress in your life, then your system is in fight-or-flight. Some research shows that the best thing for our health is to reduce stress. Cortisol is the primary stress hormone, and when we are stressed, Cortisol increases the glucose in our system. We all have stress in our lives, but how we respond to stressful situations can make a big difference to our bodies and immune systems. You can manage your stress in different ways, such as establishing a self-care routine, breathwork, and being more mindful in general.

START DRY BRUSHING NOW

START DRY BRUSHING NOW

.

Over 30% of your body’s toxins are excreted through the skin, and dry brushing helps to unclog pores and excrete those toxins that become trapped in the skin. Dry brushing daily will really help to boost your immune system, give your skin a glow, improve circulation, and reduce cellulite. With all these benefits dry brushing is a no brainer.

How to: I keep my dry brush in my bathroom and use it before I shower. I start at my feet, using a circular motion, I move the brush up, always moving it towards the heart. From my feet, I move to my calf and thigh next, always circular towards the heart. Then my abdomen, glutes, back (where I can reach), and I repeat on the other side. Once I have finished dry brushing, I shower and moisturize. This has made a huge difference for me

ALIGN WITH YOURSELF

ALIGN WITH YOURSELF

Get Aligned

Right now is a good time to put in the work on creating the life we want. One of my favorite books, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Joe Dispenza, teaches ways to become more than you thought you could be. It calms the nervous system and forces you to look at what past heartache, traumas, and beliefs are holding you back. I don’t know what speaks to you but whatever you believe, study it, and educate yourself in being better. I have always been a big believer in manifestation and creating the life you want. In the book “You Squared” they say “The only doubts you should have are your limits.” How many of you have a bigger dream than what you are living? Start aligning with that part of yourself. I believe it is our inner voice guiding us.
